It's our soon-to-be 6 year anniversary in April 🤩 and we're announcing a new shop challenge to celebrate!
Our service technician, Ginny, is accepting machines for service. We take all JUKI sewing machines and sergers, and any machines of other brands that are beyond the manufacturer's warranty. Bring your machine to the shop for service; the current wait time is within 30 days. Service times may increase if repairs and/or replacement parts are needed. Announcing a new show by Gini Ewers: "Making Connections; Building Relationships -- Exploring relationships with others, nature, and myself through textiles and stitch" - now on display in the Blue Bar Quilts Hallway Gallery through March 31. Please join Gini at Blue Bar Quilts, March 4, for an artist reception from 1pm-3pm. All are welcome, and refreshments will be provided.
Gini Ewers began quilting almost 20 years ago. Through her quilting she has connected with many others quilters and stitchers, developed deep friendships and participated in a number of quilt collaborations. Nature is a source of inspiration for her work and a source of comfort and peace. Creating textile art has also been a tool for self-discovery.
From Maday: "We will use improvisation to create a dynamic jean quilt that is visually striking, encourages sustainability, and ignites your creativity. Use, re-use, and up-cycle have never looked this great!
As sewists, we have a unique opportunity to deconstruct the unused into something practical, while keeping clothing from the landfill or sitting in warehouses for years. Finding new uses for worn-out or unused clothing offers a remarkable opportunity for creative outlets both in home decor and reimagining wearables.
In this class, we will focus on the beauty of the blues, and improv style, using simple shapes that lead to a cohesive panel or quilt top. The durability of denim makes it the perfect candidate to explore beauty and function. It also opens future possibilities for sustainable practices in our everyday life."
Maday will provide additional denim scraps for students to use. May 6, 12:00pm-3:00pm. Register here.
I was honored and surprised to receive this amazing quilt and pillow, made by members of the Blue Bar community. Titled "An Aviary of Affection", it couldn't have been a more perfect gift for me, full of birds and incredible collaborative artistry, two of my favorite things. I thank the makers for this quilt, but most of all for sustaining and nurturing the community that they have built in and around Blue Bar. My love to you all! 💙💛❤️
We are so thankful for your continued business. This international health crisis is going to be a rough patch for so many small businesses and that worries me for all of us in that boat. On the other hand, it has heartened me to see how local communities have rallied in support of their friends and neighbors. May we all remain united in the face of adversity and come through this healthy and happy.
