Karla Overland sample quilts for Woven Color and Nodak Winter
Come and see these sample quilts in the shop!

Woven Color

October 11, 9:00am - 4:00pm

What would happen if you wove six colors together? What if those colors represented six spokes from the Color Wheel? Would they create new colors? That is what designer Karla Overland wanted to represent with the Woven Color Quilt Pattern. She also developed a smart way of cutting the fabric to keep things straight. Join Karla for this fun, color play adventure. More details (and choose your color way) here.

Nodak Winter

October 12, 9:00am - 4:00pm

A regional nickname for North Dakota = NoDak. The northern Midwest can be subject to "polar vortex" temperatures and windchill factors. The extreme temperatures create a crisp stillness in the trees which inspired this quilt design. Join Karla for improvisational play with twelve colors. This quilt (pattern available here) is designed to have two block sizes that are offset in order to camouflage the rows. Improvisational, forgiving, and fast just plain fun to play with fat quarters and random color placement. More details (and choose your color way) here.

An Aviary of Affection

I was honored and surprised to receive this amazing quilt and pillow, made by members of the Blue Bar community. Titled "An Aviary of Affection", it couldn't have been a more perfect gift for me, full of birds and incredible collaborative artistry, two of my favorite things. I thank the makers for this quilt, but most of all for sustaining and nurturing the community that they have built in and around Blue Bar. My love to you all! 💙💛❤️

An Aviary of Affection Quilt - created by members of the Blue Bar Quilts community, for shop owner, Gael Boyd.

A note from Gael:

We are so thankful for your continued business. This international health crisis is going to be a rough patch for so many small businesses and that worries me for all of us in that boat. On the other hand, it has heartened me to see how local communities have rallied in support of their friends and neighbors. May we all remain united in the face of adversity and come through this healthy and happy.
