Upcycled Knit Applique

Join Leah and learn to embellish your favorite knit shirts or other garments with unique, one of a kind appliques to update and renew your wardrobe. This straightforward technique is best used with simple, graphic artwork that will be provided by Leah. Feel good about keeping clothing out of the landfill and creating your own original fashions!

Supply List

Knit garment you wish to embellish, 100% cotton or mostly cotton blend
Embroidery floss to match or contrast with your applique pieces
Needle of choice; embroidery or milliner type recommended
Scissors, embroidery style 3"-5" blades are good
Chalk marking pencil for tracing designs
Straight pins

The following will be supplied by the instructor:

Upcycled knit fabrics from t-shirts in a variety of colors to use for appliques.
Public domain artwork to use for design templates.

Optional: If you have specific colors you want to use for applique pieces bring used t-shirts or other knit fabrics in your desired color choices. If you have specific artwork (must be your own or public domain) bring it to see if it will work for the technique.
