ZOOM Beginning Quiltmaking Series #11 - Basic Free Motion Machine Quilting
Get started in free-motion quilting! It’s very rewarding to be able to quilt your own quilt. In this class, we will learn some basic patterns and fillers, and get you started on your free-motion journey. If you’ve never done any free motion quilting before, then “Getting Ready to Free Motion Quilt Class” is highly recommended.
Class Prep/Supply List
- Sewing machine in good working order, including manual
- Extension table for your machine
- Free motion foot
- Quilting needles for your machine, size 90/14
- Cotton thread for quilting (Aurifil 40 wt, Mettler sillk finish, Gutterman cotton) In a color that you can see against the muslin
- Several (at least six) quilting “sandwiches” made with two layers of muslin and cotton batting in between, about 18 x 22 in size*
- One fat quarter of a large print
- Quilting gloves
- Scissors
