Hand-Stitching Styles: Find Your Personal Voice

Everyone has their own definition of what is perfect hand-stitching. Exploring different styles will help you find your personal hand-stitching path and how to voice your own magic in stitches. Over the course of four weekly sessions, we will explore the following techniques; hand quilting, mending, boro, sashiko, various embroidery styles, and freehand stitching. 

Supply List

  • 1 hank 6-strand cotton embroidery floss (color of your choice)

  • 1 hank or cone sashiko thread (color of your choice)

  • 1 ball perle cotton size 8 or 12 (color of your choice)

  • embroidery scissors or thread snips

  • pincushion

  • small ruler (1"-3" wide by 6"-12" long)

Highly Recommended but Optional:

  • embroidery hoop, 7” or 10” (Morgan Non-slip recommended)

  • thimble of your choice

  • magnifiers/reading glasses

  • thread drops or bobbins for storing threads

  • wash away stitch stabilizer (Stich, Stitch & Rinse by Bosal recommended)

  • needle gripper, disk or flexible rubber thimble

Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: Basic hand sewing skills helpful.
Materials Included: Kit with needle set, flour sack towel, fabrics, marking pencil and embroidery stitch guide included.
