Holiday Quilt: Sugar Pines



The Sugar Pines quilt pattern celebrates the Winter season, featuring pine trees and peppermint twists. Perfect for the advanced beginner to intermediate quilter.  Pattern includes options for three sizes: small - 49″ x 49″, medium - 67″ x 73″ and large - 76″ x 97″. The pattern also includes a coloring sheet to experiment with your own colorway.

This seasonal quilt is a Dynamic Duos quilt pattern; complex-looking two-block quilt patterns that are surprisingly easy to make. By combining two quilt blocks to create secondary designs you can create quilts full of complex visual interest. Patterns include instructions to make 3 sizes. These patterns are perfect for advanced beginner to intermediate quilters looking to continue to improve on their quilting skills.

Finished Sizes:
Choose from one of 3 different sizes to make.
  • Small – 49″ x 49″
  • Medium – 67″ x 73″
  • Large – 76″ x 97"
Skill Level:
Confident Beginner – A quilter who has pieced and assembled several quilt tops and is comfortable with the process. You are ready to learn new techniques and/or combine multiple techniques in one project.

Materials:
  • Green Fabrics: 1 fat quarter each of 3 greens | 1 fat quarter each of 6 greens | 1 fat quarter each of 11 greens
  • Black Fabric: 2-3/4 yards | 4-1/4 yards | 6-1/4 yards
  • Red Fabric: 1/2 yard | 1 yard | 1-1/4 yards
  • White Fabric: 1/4 yard | 3/8 yard | 1/2 yard
  • Binding: 1/2 yard | 5/8 yard | 3/4 yard
  • Backing: 3-1/2 yards | 4-1/2 yards | 7-1/2 yards
  • Batting: 57″ x 57″ | 75″ x 81″ | 84″ x 105″


Sewing supplies to bring to class

  • Sewing machine, in good working order

  • ¼" presser foot

  • 18" x 24" (or larger) cutting mat

  • Rotary cutter, with fresh blade

  • Acrylic ruler(s) (ideally 6" x 24" and 6" x 12")

  • Thread for piecing, black or dark neutral if using a black background

  • Sewing basics – pins, scissors, seam ripper, extra needles, etc.  

Irons and ironing boards will be provided for class

Instructor Bio:
Rebecca Lidstrom is the founder and creative force behind Studio R Quilts. She is an enthusiastic quilter, designer, and instructor. Rebecca made her first quilt in 2004 and immediately fell in love with all things quilting.
A simple design aesthetic combined with color, texture, and traditional quilt blocks are what defines Rebecca's patterns. She takes the intimidation factor out of the quilt-making process and believes regardless of skill level, anyone can make a quilt.
Helping others discover and enjoy quilting is a passion for Rebecca. She is excited to be part of the wonderful quilting community and share her knowledge with others. Rebecca is a member of the Madison Modern Quilt Guild and Mad City Quilt Guild.
Rebecca is excited to be designing her own line of quilt patterns and sharing them with the quilting community. She creates from her studio in Madison, WI.
