Cut with Confidence

Accurate cutting is the foundation of accurate piecing, and mastering it will make every quilting project more enjoyable. If you struggle with cuts that are the wrong size, not straight, or inconsistent, the fix is simpler than you might think. This hands-on technique class covers everything that goes into accurate cutting—from prepping your fabric and choosing the right tools to executing the cut itself—giving you the skills and confidence to get it right every time.

 In this class, you’ll learn:

  • Cutting tools and safety — the different features available, how to choose what’s right for you, and how to stay injury-free

  • Fabric fundamentals — understanding fabric grain and how to prep your fabric before you cut

  • Accurate cutting — how to straighten fabric, cut width-of-fabric strips, and sub-cut to size using proper form and technique

  • Helpful tips and tricks — how to cut faster, more efficiently, and stay organized

  • Common issues and fixes — how to identify and solve the cutting problems quilters run into most

You’ll leave class with actionable steps to keep improving, and access to an 11-page digital reference guide that summarizes everything covered — so you have a resource to turn to long after class ends.

This class is perfect for you if:

  • You struggle to get accurate cuts consistently — wrong sizes, not straight, or constantly varying

  • You’re not confident you’re using your cutting tools correctly

  • You’re self-taught and want more formal, structured guidance on cutting technique
