Spice Road or Feathered Star

Join Mary to make one of these foundation paper pieced beauties designed by Larkspur Lane Designs. Both patterns use similar techniques and repeating block designs and both blocks will be taught in class. Stitch up the Spice Road quilt using our kit of Geometrica batiks as pictured or let us help you choose fabrics to custom kit either quilt design Mary will guide you with step-by-step instructions and teach you the best FPP practices and organization to make a striking quilt.
Supply List:
- Feathered Star or Spice Road pattern (required, available at the shop)
- Kit (available at the shop) or choose your own fabrics according to the pattern requirements
- Glue pen with refills
- Add a Quarter or Add a Quarter Plus ruler, 12" (6" is useful, too, but optional)
- Wonder Clips or small binder clips
- Flat-headed long pins, such as Clover Flower Head pins
- Plastic-coated large paper clips
- Sewing machine, in good working order with 1⁄4” presser foot
- Thread for piecing
- Rotary cutter, with a fresh blade
- Sewing basics – pins, scissors, seam ripper, extra needles, etc.

Instructor Bio:
Mary has been quilting and sewing for over 50 years and took her first quilting class back in 1982 when she first moved to Madison from Minnesota. Mary likes many forms of piecing but her favorite is foundation paper piecing because of the precision and detail it yields.
Mary has been longarm quilting since 2015 when she invested in her Gammill machine with a Statler Stitcher. She enjoys learning and practicing new techniques to improve her custom digital quilting skills to enhance her client's creations.
Mary is an active member of the Mad City Quilt Guild, and Madison Modern Quilt Guild and is currently President of the Lodi Valley Quilters Guild.
Mary retired from the healthcare field in 2017 and keeps very busy with longarm quilting, garment making, playing piano and handbells, and spending time with her family especially her adorable grandson Jaxon.
