Easy Tote Bag
I have always loved bags and being able to make my own gave me the freedom to personalize my bag to meet my needs and taste. In this class you’ll learn the steps to make a basic lined tote bag with a boxy bottom with cotton or polypro strapping for handles. We’ll also cover options for future bags (because you’re going to want to make more) such as adjusting handle length, making your own straps, using interfacing, and adding pockets, zippers, and quilting or pieced fabrics. Bonus - the pattern is included in the class fee.
Supply List:
- 2/3 yard canvas fabric for outside
- 2/3 yard canvas fabric for lining
- 1 - 1/4 yards cotton, nylon or polypro strapping for handles, 1" or 1.5"
- polyester thread, neutral or to match your fabrics
- Sewing machine (don't forget your foot pedal and cord)
- Basic sewing tools & supplies (rotary cutter, scissors, seam ripper, sewing machine needles, pins/wonder clips)

| Instructor Bio: | Christine (she/her) has been creating for as long as she can remember. As a kid, she finished her mom’s crewel projects, sewed doll clothes on a temperamental White sewing machine, crocheted a sweater for her dog, and counted many cross stitches. As an adult, she quilts (both machine and EPP), makes clothes because she has too many quilts, weaves and knits. She continues to work on improving her skills and is always open to learning new ones. In her non-sewing life, Christine is a public servant, a mom to 3 kids and a rescue dog from Texas, and a wife. She loves road trips to national parks with a needle and thread. |
