Art of the Cabin Block with Maday

One of the most widely recognized quilt blocks, the log cabin exemplifies tradition and family. It’s a timeless block that with a few careful seams, becomes enchanting and rhythmic. Using improvisation, color, and scale, you’ll explore the creative possibilities of building a scrappy, make-do block that stretches the imagination and invites playful and sustainable creativity.
You’ll learn techniques for achieving consistently smooth lines while maintaining the freedom that makes this block so compelling. Create a block of any size by choosing harmonious or limited palettes, scrappy color studies, and a dash of repetition, while maintaining visual harmony and impact.
Maday will bring an Accuquilt cutter and log cabin block die for those that enjoy piecing with 1.5” strips. Participants will have an opportunity to explore creating a giant block or individual blocks.

| Instructor Bio: | My studio is the lab where I learn, adapt and create; the place where new ideas emerge and balance is restored with each accomplishment and failure. I'm naturally curious about the creative process and employing new tools & techniques in order to grow as an artist and teacher. In all workshops I encourage sustainability as a way to build confidence and community, with a back-to-basics approach and consciousness about resource use/waste. I focus on the perfectly imperfect aspects of discovery, experimentation and most importantly, Living a satisfying life through creativity. |
