Beginning Free Motion Quilting

*The feet pictured are free-motion quilting/darning feet. This style of foot is needed for the class. Please be sure you have one or can get one that works with your model of machine as these feet are typically proprietary by brand.

There will be a break as this class is very intensive. You are welcome to eat in the classroom. Please plan to bring a lunch or snack or order food for delivery or pick up from a local restaurant or the Willy Street West Co-op. There are many restaurant, fast food, and cafe choices available in nearby downtown Middleton and Greenway Station.

Notes:

The class sample is on white fabric with Quilters Dream cotton batting in Select weight

Before class, please do the following:

  1. Cut fabric into 8 fat quarters by first cutting four 18" pieces the width of the fabric, then cutting on the fold.
  2. Sandwich each of the batting pieces between two pieces of fabric. You can pin or spray baste if you wish, but you don’t have to – the friction will be enough to keep them together and these are just for practice.
  3. Wind a couple of bobbins of thread.
