Dye & Sew - A Bag Class

Supply List

Session 1: Dyeing
  • Disposable latex or nitrile gloves (packs of 2 pair available at the shop)
  • Apron or smock*
  • Scissors
  • Fabric for wiping up excess dye, fat quarter or larger.  Sometimes this wipe-up cloth becomes a beautiful piece on its own. This piece does need to be cotton, linen or another cellulose fiber - synthetics don't absorb the dye.
*We recommend that you wear clothes you don't mind getting stained with dye

Session 2: Sewing
  • Sewing machine in good working order with standard and zipper presser feet
  • Sewing machine needles size 100/16, Universal or Jeans type
  • Basic sewing supplies; seam ripper, scissors, pins
  • 1 3/4 yards webbing for strap
  • Thread to coordinate or contrast with fabrics
  • 1 yard or 3 fat quarters lining fabric (commercial print was used in the sample)
  • 2 yards Shape Flex SF101 lightweight fusible interfacing
  • 2 zippers, 14" & 9" (minimum lengths, longer is fine, they can be cut down)
  • Wash Away Wonder Tape (optional, for zipper installation)
